 The drive from San Jose to Puntarenas takes approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival in Puntarenas there are two options for crossing the bay by ferry onto the Nicoya Peninsula (see Travel Information for ferry schedule). Once you arrive in Paquera, it's about an hour drive to Cobano, where you should continue straight at the main crossing and turn left at the second crossing. There are signs showing the way to Mal Pais at the intersection. Once you arrive in Mal Pais, turn left at the main intersection (where you will see "Frank's Place" and a number of signs for various local businesses) and head South toward Cabo Blanco. The Tres Monos home office is approximately 1.5 Km down the road on the right (beach front) side (look for a large red gate with hanging palm fronds above it - across from where you see the sign for the Hacienda Restaurant). This is where you should stop to check-in and receive the keys to your rental. The Octagon House is located directly next door. The Point House is approximately 2 Km further down the road on the right side. We recommend that you enlarge, print and bring along the Mal Pais Detail Map (below right) to ease your arrival. |
